Jupyter notebook

A Jupyter notebook is a file (ending in .ipynb) that mixes code, its results and notes in cells. You run one cell at a time and see its output right below it.

Behind every notebook runs a kernel: the live Python session that runs your cells and remembers what they created. You can open notebooks in VS Code, in JupyterLab, or in your browser with Google Colab.

Notebooks fit data work well: load a table in one cell, look at it, chart it in the next. R users know the idea from R Markdown and Quarto chunks, and in a notebook each cell runs when you run it.
